Dark Horse/10 High Show – Atlanta, GA

First we want to thank the folks at the Dark Horse/10 High for hosting us last night. Good sound, good stage, really cool sound guy. Thanks Hanz for the sound…
The bar had Strongbow on tap … which gave Tony a woody. He was seriously thrilled since he hasn’t had Strongbow on tap since London.
Also, thanks to the bar for putting on the Stanley Cup game while we were waiting to go on stage. Too bad about the outcome of the game… but will make for a great Game 7. Go Detroit!

Atlanta was very good to us. The folks at the hotel hooked us up with a monster room… We had a swimming pool and so instead of taking a nap when we arrived we ended up drinking and partying at the pool.
Tony got his eagle on at the pool…
Rick threw up in the pool and kind ruined the party, but it was a good thing because we had to get ready for the show anyway. Plus, he had to sober up somewhat to drive everyone to the gig.

The band that was due to go on before us actually had issues and didn’t make it to the show which was great for us. We played for about an hour and a half. Everyone had a great time at the show!
Fans came from as far as Charlotte to come see Atom Strange tear it up.

Afterwards we invited everyone back to the hotel to party and play poker. Rick raked it and everyone else lost their shirts.

Peace out to Gollum who played a mosterous set with a child friendly video accompaniment. Check out Gollum.cc for a preview.

That’s about it… Tom’s at the wheel… We’re on the road stuck in traffic and hung over. John is still picking insects out of his hair from the other night in South Carolina.

Signed,
Dick (Finger Cuffs) Strange

On The Road to Atlanta…

Hey guys… we’re on the road. Been a long ride down to Atlanta. Should be there by 1-2ish.
Nothing too crazy happened on the road, but we’re getting to know each others ’stink’ pretty well.
We stopped at a redneck truck-stop in the middle of the night last night. When we got out of the van there was no one around… was like the movie ‘House of 1000 Corpses’. Stepping outside the van we had no choice but to feel the crunch of roaches and beatles under our feet.
After filling up and cleaning the windshield from the insect carcases for 20 minutes we got back on the road until we got to North Carolina where we passed out for about 3.5 hours.

John slept in a little crawl space between the gear riser and the ceiling of the van. Not sure how he fit… but all we could see was a mop of hair.

Tony’s got first drive this morning… a ‘Monster Energy Drink’ and Tony’s wired.
KingsX playing on the iPod.

… no we’re not sponsored by Monster. We’ve got an ‘Orange Amps’ sponsorship, and ‘Spectrafex Cables’. Couple others in the works.

OK… Rick ending transmission!

The TriTone in Philadelphia!

Another great show with Surgeon at The TriTone in Philadelphia! Surgeon came on last and killed! One of the best shows we have seen from them yet. It was Atom Strange’s first show of the summer tour and we kicked it off with poise, style, some gas (from the taco bell) and grace…well maybe not grace; a little bass cabinet cable decided to go bad half way into our third song but we recovered well and ended strong!

This was our first show as a band in our new van thanks to our gracious friends Me Talk Pretty; and she performed with flying colors. She sure does have an appetite for fuel and in New Jersey she gets the full service treatment from the fine people from the New Jersey Gas Station Community who pumped her just like she likes.

The crowd in Philly shows great support for local music and we were thrilled to come back to the Tri Tone. We saw a few familiar faces and many new ones come out to
see us. The next stop is Arlington Virginia where we will be opening up for the great Soul/Funk band Politicks at their cd release party.

Stay tuned for more shenanigans space monkeys…

STRANGE Tour

So here we are. It;s the middle of May in 2009 and ATOM STRANGE is about to start their first tour ever! The band has played all over the north east in recent years but this looks like something different. With a new album very nearly completed, Rick, Tom, John, Tony and Alex will be heading out to the highway to support the release of ATOM STRANGE’s Cosmic Disturbance. The album will feature 11 songs that run the gamut from ethereal to metal to punk and everything in between but always sounding like ATOM STRANGE! We can’t wait for all of you to hear it but you can get a sneak preview of most of the material this coming Friday May 22nd in NYC at Arlene’s Grocery where ATOM STRANGE will kick off their summer tour and play ONLY music from the new record. They will also be giving away cds with a sneak preview of the album to be released soon.

We hope you can all make it down or at the very least check out our Myspace page at www.myspace.com/atomstrangeband to hear samples from Cosmic Disturbance.

See you on the road!
